At The Amelia Scott, we are dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all our visitors. Our Relaxed Opening is specially designed for those who prefer a more tranquil museum experience, including those with autism or other neurodiverse needs, along with their families and carers.
Explore - Discover - Create: Enhanced Activities
We're delighted to offer a variety of activities to engage and delight all the family during our Relaxed Opening. Here's what you can look forward to:
• Sensory Storytelling: Discover a story that engages all the senses. Our storyteller uses a variety of props to help immerse you in the world of the tale. Our story this session will be The Gingerbread Man. (2:40pm - 3:00pm)
• Activity Station: Create fun craft, inspired by our themes and Collection. This session, the theme is World Book Day and if you need a costume, we can help! Linking to our Gingerbread Man story, come and make a fox mask! Use our craft materials to make a mask... or use them to get creative in your own way! (drop in 2:30pm - 3:45pm)
• Temporary Exhibition: Explore the exhibition - Your Work Here - in your very own quiet session. (3:45pm - 4:00pm)
Inclusive event:
• Comfortable Visit: Experience a Discovery Day at The Amelia Scott in a quieter, less crowded setting, ensuring a more comfortable visit.
• Calm Start: The event begins at 2:30pm to allow families to take the time they need to reach us.
• Supportive Staff: Our staff will be on hand to create a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, helping everyone have a positive and enjoyable experience.
