KS1- Lord North and the Spring

Remote, live session

Topic: History, Science, English and (pre-session) Art & Design

In this session, pupils join in the interactive storytelling of how Lord North’s discovery of the chalybeate spring when he visited our area in 1606 led to the birth of the town of Tunbridge Wells.

The session is made up of two parts:

Pupils watch a two minute pre-session film and make props inspired by items in The Amelia’s collection, ready for the storytelling.

Pupils take part in a live, remote storytelling session on Microsoft Teams, featuring images of items in The Amelia’s collection. The sessions lasts 30-40 mins.

Cost: There is no charge for remote/digital sessions.

KS2 – Amelia Who?

(Recommended for Years 4 & 5)

Digital project-pack session

Topic: History and English

In this session, pupils use their enquiry skills to find out all about Amelia Scott (1860-1952) – local suffragist, first female councillor for Tunbridge Wells and campaigner for the people of our local area.

The session works like a project pack, with two short films featuring ‘Amelia Scott’ (a presenter in character), sets of evidence for pupils to explore and the opportunity for the class to write to Amelia Scott at the Town Hall with all their questions – and to receive a personalised reply!
