Support The Amelia

Our mission: Enriching Lives; Inspiring Learning

The Amelia Scott is a pioneering new venue at the heart of Tunbridge Wells. Uniquely, it offers a range of arts and cultural experiences integrated with frontline council services. Housing a museum, adult education centre, adult and children’s libraries, a community arts room, a gallery for temporary exhibitions and a light and airy space for events and performances, it’s designed to inspire local people to explore and share the pleasures of heritage and arts discovery, reading, learning and participation, and to attract new visitors to our town.

Why we need your support

The Amelia is led and funded by Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, which covers the costs of all statutory services.

Tunbridge Wells is recognised as one of the most affluent boroughs in Kent, but this masks islands of deprivation which are further isolated by the relative wealth around them. The Amelia is designed, following extensive public consultation, to address the inequality of opportunity that exists within our borough and to foster a more active, connected community.

To reach as many people as possible, we have ambitious plans : through opportunities for early years learning, cross-curricular programmes for schools, projects aimed at supporting mental health and for those living with social isolation, and activities for people with age-related illness, The Amelia has the potential to enable people to become confident users of cultural venues - with the life-long benefits we know that brings – and to contribute to the health and wellbeing of all local residents.

Our aim is to attract 450,000 visits each year. To continue to offer life-enhancing arts and cultural experiences - free or at an affordable cost to ensure that everyone can benefit - we need to attract additional funding and support from our community. We very much hope that you will join us on our journey.
