No Man's Land
Legend has it that in the First World War, impromptu football matches took place as part of the spontaneous Christmas Truce that broke out in No Man's Land in the December of 1914. To commemorate this, a Subbuteo pitch has been created - with German and British soldiers lining the sides of the pitch, waving scarves and exchanging presents - showing precious acts of humanity triumphing in times of conflict, which have inspired many over the years.
Christmas Pitch
On the weekend of 9/10 January 2010, almost the entire English fixture list being postponed due to snow. This never used to happen in the old days where football was football!
It was therefore decided that Subbuteo needed to set an example and inspire everyone to play in the snow. So a pitch was marked out, a Christmas village was built around the pitch, and the snow fell! Just waiting for the teams to turn up for kick-off…
