History
The Friends at the Amelia Scott were established in October 2006 as The Friends at the Tunbridge Wells Library, Museum and Art Gallery.
A major part of our mission was to assist museum management, towards the collective goal of renovating the old facilities, bringing them up to date.
Since re opening as The Amelia Scott in 2022, our now updated constitution reads:
‘The object of The Friends at the Amelia Scott’ is to advance the education of the public through the promotion, support, assistance and improvement of the Amelia Scott in cooperation with its management and staff’.
Making a Donation
All donations made to The Friends, go directly to furthering the work of The Amelia Scott by way of promoting the reading of books, funding objects, such as the recent George Smart picture and restoration of the Doll’s House as well as hosting talks and tours. We also continue to produce a range of booklets and cards referencing and highlighting parts of the vast collection.

How your membership helps:
Joining The Friends at The Amelia makes a real difference. Your support helps care for a collection of around 60,000 objects, to run learning sessions for thousands of children and adults each year and to keep our doors open and free to all. Put simply: Friends helps to keep The Amelia the kind of place Tunbridge Wells is proud of.
I love being part of supporting an organisation that I am proud of, it’s somewhere my family loves and it feels good to help keep it going.
Mike, Friend of The Amelia
