The 2025 Youth Consultation showed that the TOP creative skill respondents wanted to try was photography!

So, we proudly present to you our next Amelia Young Creatives course…Still Life Photography

Spend three inspiring days with a professional photographer, Clare Hughes, and discover what it takes to create.

You’ll explore the art of composition, learn how to work with light, set up a shot, and compose an image, using object from within our collection. You’ll also get hands-on experience with basic retouching using Adobe Suite, giving your images that polished finish.

By the end of the course, you’ll choose your best work to feature in a public photography display in March—an amazing opportunity to showcase your creativity.

Still life photography captures inanimate subjects, such as food, flora, or everyday objects. Through thoughtful arrangement and lighting, you’ll have the opportunity to experiment with textures, reflections, and mood without the pressure of movement. This fun, practical programme is all about ideas flowing and collaborating with others as you explore your creativity. Along the way, you’ll build skills that go beyond photography, including visual storytelling, creative problem-solving, attention to detail, and confident presentation.

The workshops run from Monday 15th to Wednesday 17th February 2027, from 10am to 4pm.

Open to young people aged 13–19, with no previous experience or equipment required—just bring your curiosity and enthusiasm.
