Take your first step into the creative world at The Amelia. Our Emerging Professionals programme offers a supportive pathway into museums and creative careers for local people aged 16–25.

Through hands-on experience, mentorship, and real-world projects, you'll build confidence, gain practical skills, and discover how cultural organisations work - while strengthening your CV, expanding your network and exploring future career possibilities.

If you're considering a career in museums, heritage, arts, culture, or the wider creative sector, these programmes are a great place to start.

Work experience

Our work experience programme helps you build essential skills like communication and problem-solving, alongside professional behaviours, technical ability and a real understanding of the industry. We offer one-week or one-day placements in the summer term for KS4 and KS5 students.

Applications for our work experience programme will open in October 2026, and will close in January 2027.

Professional Networking

Networking is one of the most valuable skills for anyone starting out in any career, whether you’re an entrepreneur, a creative, or working in any industry. It’s about building meaningful connections, strengthening relationships, and opening doors that might not appear otherwise.

In May 2026 we co-hosted the first Emerging Professionals Networking Breakfast (for 18-30 year olds) in collaboration with Royal Tunbridge Wells Together and Creative Tunbridge Wells. Nearly 40 young professionals joined us at The Manor House Tunbridge Wells to connect, share experiences, and build professional confidence: an inspiring start to the programme.

The next Emerging Professionals Networking Breakfast will take place on 22nd September. Venue to be confirmed.
