SUMMARY:Activist Avenue
DESCRIPTION:Learn about the history of Tunbridge Wells in a way you’ve never seen before… \nFrom the minds of the Young Producers comes a new trail full of untold stories – be the first to uncover the forgotten histories of radicals like Olive Walton\, Jasper Sprange and Amelia Scott herself. \nAcross the Amelia\, you will travel through the past and investigate the life of each pioneer from Tunbridge Wells’ history. Interact with their stories further by reading about their experiences and completing fun activities! Collect all the stamps along the way in your “Passport Through Time” and perhaps they will leave you a special reward… \nAn experience for all ages. \nThis project is part of our Unlocking Collections Programme\, supported using public funding from the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

SUMMARY:The Kent Speak Their Name Memorial Quilt
DESCRIPTION:The Kent Speak Their Name Suicide Memorial Quilt can be seen in The Workroom from 8th October to 7th November during opening hours and when the room is not occupied. \nPlease drop in to take a look and time to reflect. There is a book for messages which you are welcome to use. \nAbout the Project \nSTAK.life CIC started the Kent Speak Their Name Suicide Memorial Quilt project in February 2025. Sixty Six squares were made by people across Kent\, who had lost a loved one to Suicide. They were sewn into a memorial quilt. The quilt was unveiled at The Baton of Hope Event on Monday 22nd September at Dreamland. The quilt is now on tour around Kent. \nEach square stitched painted or embroidered with love honours a life ended too soon. Together they form a powerful tapestry of remembrance ensuring every name is spoken and every story is seen. \nMore than a memorial the quilt is acall to action. By sharing it across Kent we hightlight the deep impact suicide has on families\, friends\, and communities. Offering a chance for reflection healing and connection\, reminding us that behind every square is a life\, a loss and a legacy. \nThe quilt stand not only in memory but also in hope\, in open conversations\, greater awareness and support for those who need it most.

SUMMARY:Howard Hodgkin: In a Public Garden
DESCRIPTION:A major print retrospective of one of Britain’s most celebrated artists \nExperience Howard Hodgkin's vivid world of colour in this exhibition of prints spanning five decades. \nHoward Hodgkin: In a Public Garden brings together more than thirty richly coloured prints by one of Britain's most distinctive modern artists.  \nSpanning five decades\, from 1966 to 2016\, the exhibition offers an engaging introduction to Hodgkin's printmaking. It shows how he used colour\, shape and texture to turn memories\, places and personal encounters into vivid visual experiences.  \nHodgkin is best known as a painter\, but he was also one of Britain's most important printmakers. Born in London in 1932\, he developed a language of bold marks\, layered surfaces and intense colour. Many of the prints in this exhibition are hand-coloured\, giving them a physical presence and emotional depth that reward close looking.  \nThe works range from lyrical city scenes to images inspired by Hodgkin's long connection with India\, as well as prints created for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Although they can appear spontaneous\, they were often made through a slow and highly considered process. Hodgkin experimented with techniques including etching and aquatint\, combining them with hand-painting to create images of remarkable richness.  \nHodgkin's significance was recognised internationally during his lifetime. He won the Turner Prize in 1985\, represented Britain at the Venice Biennale\, and his work has been shown in major museums including Tate Britain\, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Reina Sofía in Madrid. Howard Hodgkin: In a Public Garden invites visitors to experience an artist whose colour\, feeling and imagination continue to resonate today.  \nHoward Hodgkin: In a Public Garden\, a Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery Touring Exhibition.  \nImage credit: Howard Hodgkin\, Palm and Window 1990-1991 (detail) – © 2026 The Estate of Howard Hodgkin. SUMMARY:Sarah Raven Workshop: The Art of Making a Garden
DESCRIPTION:Join me for a workshop packed with practical know-how. Learn how to grow armfuls of cut flowers and veg the easy way\, create flowery colour without chaos and turn your plot into a haven for wildlife. Thirty years of experience shared in one afternoon. \nThere are three aims that shape everything I teach\, and you’ll get plenty of each in this workshop. \nFirstly\, production. Whether it’s flowers\, salad\, herbs or vegetables\, abundance is one of the great joys of gardening. I’ll share what I’ve learnt on how to succeed the easy way – plus a bit of the science behind it. \nMy second aim is a garden filled with colour for as much of the year as possible. If you love a flowery show\, I’ll explain how to achieve that with style and beauty. I’ll give you my top tips and favourite planting combinations\, drawn from my landmark garden colour book (out next autumn) and hands-on trials and experimentation. \nAnd my final aim is to enhance nature and do everything I can to help biodiversity – from using local wood products to growing our own bird-feeding plants\, I’ve learnt plenty of lessons on supporting the wildlife around us. \nPlus tea\, coffee and cake on arrival. \nItiniery\n1:45pm – 2:00pm – Arrival\n2:00pm – 3:00pm – Sarah will share the principles behind planting for abundance: how to plan and plant so your garden gives you colour and harvest for as much of the year as possible.\n3:00pm – 3:20pm – Tea\, coffee and homemade treat.\n3:20pm – 4:00pm – Sarah continues with plant choices\, growing tips and advice\, and a hands-on demonstration to bring it all to life.\n4:00pm – 4:20pm – Your chance to ask Sarah anything about the afternoon’s topics.\n4:20pm – 4:50pm – Josie Lewis\, Perch Hill’s head gardener\, will show you how to take cuttings and plant up pots and borders for maximum impact. She’ll also demonstrate how to layer a bulb lasagne for months of successive flowering.\n4:50pm onwards – Time for shopping in the Perch Hill shop\, final questions and farewells. \nBook through Sarah Raven website – via the Book Now button.

SUMMARY:An Evening with Sarah Raven and Adam Nicolson
DESCRIPTION:Join Sarah Raven and Adam Nicolson for a rare evening together\, sharing the inside story of two remarkable gardens – Sissinghurst Castle and Perch Hill – and the family\, ideas and history that connect them. \nAdam grew up at Sissinghurst with his grandparents\, Vita Sackville-West and Harold Nicolson. Vita was a celebrated writer and the creative force behind one of England’s most influential gardens; Harold an MP and writer who gave the garden its enduring structure. \nAdam and Sarah returned to Sissinghurst in 2004 with their young family\, while just a few miles away Sarah continued to create the world-famous garden at Perch Hill. \nTogether\, Sarah and Adam will explore these two very different places: Sissinghurst\, steeped in memory and nostalgia\, and Perch Hill\, colourful\, experimental and always looking forward. \nThrough their personal stories\, you’ll discover how each garden has evolved\, the people and ideas that have shaped them\, and what gardens can give us in return. \nThere will be a Sarah Raven pop-up shop\, book signing and Q&A. \nPlus all visitors will get private access to the Howard Hodgkin: In a Public Garden exhibition before the event. \nBook your place now on the Sarah Raven website – via the Book Now button

SUMMARY:Home Education at The Amelia - Primary
DESCRIPTION:Join us at The Amelia for our monthly learning sessions open to home educated children across the borough. \nOur learning sessions are linked to The Amelia’s collections\, are based on enquiry-led learning and are rooted in the National Curriculum. Sessions provide unique opportunities for object-handling and inspiring activities to guide children and their families as they explore our galleries. \nDuration: Standard sessions last 60 mins \nWe aim to provide a fully inclusive service for all our young visitors. Please let us know if there are any SPLD/ or accessibility needs we should be aware of so that we can help support all participants to engage with the session. \nPlease note\, children must be accompanied by their parent/carers and remain their responsibility at all times. \nMonthly themes: \n8 September – Archaeology Adventure\nJoin us for a special exhibition-linked session. The group will start with an introduction to archaeology in the Learning Room\, with the chance to explore artefacts and objects hands-on. The session will conclude in Archaeology Adventure\, our current temporary exhibition. \n13 October – The Story of the Wells – Local History\nIn this session\, the group will discover how and why our town came into existence. Using artefacts to piece together its story from forest\, to popular health resort\, to holiday destination for a princess\, the group will also find out why children from the East End of London would spend their summer holidays here 100 years ago! \n10 November – Dinosaurs and Fossils\nIn this session\, the group are cast as palaeontologists and explore clues about what the world was like millions of years ago. They have the chance to handle a range of fossils from The Amelia’s Collection to investigate how they were made and what they tell us about the past. \n8 December – Generations of Joy\nThis session will take place off-site and provide an enriching opportunity for inter-generational engagement\, with children and care-home residents taking part in Christmas-themed activities together. \n\nContact us to find out more before booking

Come and join one of our Story Time sessions for 3 to 4 year olds – it’s great fun! \n\n\n\n\nYou can find Kent Libraries online Story time playlist on our You Tube channel. \nResearch shows that babies and children introduced early to stories and books do better in school in later years. So if you have no time to read tonight\, download a free audio story from Storynory or Kent Libraries growing audiobooks collection. \nStory Time will be taking place in the Children’s Library (under the beautiful night sky) on Monday Mornings at 11:00 from the 9th May. \nNo need to book\, just drop in.
