SUMMARY:Howard Hodgkin: In a Public Garden
DESCRIPTION:A major print retrospective of one of Britain’s most celebrated artists \nExperience Howard Hodgkin's vivid world of colour in this exhibition of prints spanning five decades. \nHoward Hodgkin: In a Public Garden brings together more than thirty richly coloured prints by one of Britain's most distinctive modern artists.  \nSpanning five decades\, from 1966 to 2016\, the exhibition offers an engaging introduction to Hodgkin's printmaking. It shows how he used colour\, shape and texture to turn memories\, places and personal encounters into vivid visual experiences.  \nHodgkin is best known as a painter\, but he was also one of Britain's most important printmakers. Born in London in 1932\, he developed a language of bold marks\, layered surfaces and intense colour. Many of the prints in this exhibition are hand-coloured\, giving them a physical presence and emotional depth that reward close looking.  \nThe works range from lyrical city scenes to images inspired by Hodgkin's long connection with India\, as well as prints created for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Although they can appear spontaneous\, they were often made through a slow and highly considered process. DESCRIPTION:Come and join our fun and noisy singing session for children under 4 and their parents and carers. \nA free\, fun and noisy way for under 4s to develop a love of language and a foundation for learning. Each session lasts about 20 – 30 minutes and includes the opportunity to join in with nursery rhymes and action songs. \nResearch shows that these activities can help develop literacy and communication skills in babies and children. \nThese sessions will take place in the Children’s library (under the beautiful night sky) on Tuesdays at 10:00 and 11:00\, and Thursdays at 10:00. \nNo need to book\, just drop in!

All Yarn and patterns will be provided\, and you will go away with some festive items to hang on your tree.or to decorate your room in a festive style.You will have fun and meet like minded people. \nYou’ll need to bring:\nScissors\, a wide eyed needle and 4mm needles and 3.25mm needles and a stitch holder. \nSuitable for:  \nConfident knitters (able to knit and purl) \nAbout your facilitator – Monica Russel. \nMonica is a knitwear designer and teacher who loves working and designing with colours and being creative with her designs. She has run her business The Knitknacks for 14 years during which she has developed a reputation for her Fair Isle patterns and her ability to teach knitting to beginners and advanced learners who wish to expand their skills. \nMonica has had 9 books published by Search Press and has designed for a number of knitting magazines including Mollie Makes\, Knitting\, Knit Now and Simply Knitting.
